Happy Birthday, Dr. King

We started the day strong and with a solid plan. I had to finish a little work. So, we didn’t end up going into DC until noon, which made us scale back those plans and we split up after going to The National Portrait Gallery. F went to the Capital Area and E came with me to U-Street, home of the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl. The restaurant has a notorious reputation for being the only place to stay open during the 1968 riots after Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. The line was ridiculously long but we decided to sweat it out. Two and a half hours later, we made it inside to spend Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday having hot dogs, cheese fries, and cake.

PS My sister is supposedly in DC, too. Mo! Call me. Or comment.
